Google + Cell Phones

office max google cell phone A look at how Google is playing in the software space.

Official Therapy Dog.

The dog checks into the Human Resources department for a badge!

We went to the human resources office and they took our pictures for the badges. I sat nicely and gave them a big smile. I wasn’t even on duty yet and I got so many pets from lots of people as we walked through the hospital.

Bad Behavior

A tale of bad office behavior.

For two years, I was bullied, harassed, discriminated against, and physically hit by a co-worker. My co-workers spent half their shifts sitting and scheming. They covered for a slacker custodian that kept Penthouse in his school office desk drawer. These same co-workers were (every month) repeated absenteeism, bogus Worker’s Comp. Claims, along with the custodian that sat all day, except for approximately forty-five minutes (each day).

Paperwork: Threat Level Orange

office max fax with funny message A nice metaphor between security threat levels and paperwork in the fax machine.

What do we do in our businesses, that we treat as vitally important or something that has to be done right away but that we’re not really using any more, or whose usefulness has passed? I’ve asked employees to fax me some paperwork one time only to have them not realize that I didn’t want it forever. On the road for two weeks and I return to find my fax machine out of paper and the fax buffer full. Woops! I’d put them on Threat Level Orange on counts and not stepped them back down to yellow. Now, some automatically stepped themselves back down, assuming that I only wanted it the one time I’d asked for it.

Finding The Right Printer

office max samsung clp 300 From a post evaluating different office printers.

The other printer I’m considering is the Samsung CLP-300 (and maybe the CLP-300N). OfficeMax has it for $229, without rebates. This printer beats the 1600 and 2600N on size and price of consumables. Staples has the 300N version, which includes a network port, for $300.
