Ink Cartridge Franchises

office max ink jet replacement cartridge It seems like more and more companies are providing replacements for ink jet cartridges.

Franchisors like Cartridge World, Rapid Refill, Smart Cartridge, and Caboodle Cartridge will argue that market acceptance of off-brand quality inks is rapidly increasing, providing ample room for aggressive franchisees to capture a piece of this growing market share. While it is true that market acceptance is increasing, so are the alternatives. Office Depot, Staples, Office Max, and nearly all retail stores now offer generic or private labeled inks and cartridges at substantially lower prices than their name-brand counterparts (HP, Canon, Lexmark, etc.).

Just a good example of razor/blade strategy... sell the razor cheap and the blades not so cheap... video game manufacturers operate in the same way.

# Purchase an ink refill kit at an office supply store. (Staples, Walmart, and Costco all carry this inexpensive kit. It usually costs about half the price of an average printer cartridge.)
# Gather your kit, a roll of paper towels, and some clear scotch tape together on a large flat working surface, a table or desk.
# Remove the empty cartridge from your printer. (Remember to close your printer lid or door while you are working.)
# Cover your hands with a pair of disposable plastic gloves while you work with the messy ink.
# Take a paper towel and fold it in half twice. Work over the paper towel to catch any leaking ink.
# Place the empty cartridge on it.

Printer ink is one of the most expensive things that you'll run into when you set up your home office. You start out taking dozens of pictures with your new digital camera, download them onto your computer, print a few and then suddenly: the print cartridge runs out of ink.
