Office Max to Buy Back Shares

Office Max is trying to prop up its stock price after accounting irregularities.

Itasca-based Office-Max says it's begun a tender offer to buy as many as 23-point-five (M) million common shares for up to 799 (M) million dollars.

The purchase represents about 25 percent of the outstanding stock in Office-Max -- North America's third-largest office-products company.
